I have been having major KDE debian issues and it all seem to relate to a fateful apt-get dist-upgrade
read about the horror here

I am not happy with debian at the moment, what with the http://www.jumpstation.co.uk/flog/Jul2005.html#11072005 fun that is still going on but now all my KDE menus have vanished due to a similar issue, maybe its time to switch to GNOME ?
Oh, and there was a base package that caused all other packages to fail to update, but at least that one was sorted in about twelve hours.
I have not been able to get Linux to talk to my UPS, nut is driving me nuts.
Went gliding on Sunday, totally unbelievable, not what I expected and must for anyone, (but not as good as diving !)

I finished reading Steven Jones's "Y: the Decent of Man", a good and highly accessible view of the evolution and forth coming extinction of the male sex.
I bought, played and completed Malice on the xBox, Argonaut has had over three years to release this game, the pre XBox launch demos meant this was the game to buy so why it was not released until can only be because they wanted to add to it and make it the best ?
Unfortunately NO, about 5% looks or works well, 10% is not bad 50% is medioca and the other 35% is down right awful, what have they been doing, it took me 5 hours to complete from beginning to end and I only died once (and that was because I was trying to do something the game engine would not allow.
Not fun, not clever, not what was promised and not worth the money! well maybe, it was only a tenner.
And why does the game box say it supports custom sound tracks ?

Just a brief word about the whole sourceforge experience, it starts off hard, becomes infuriating and then the light shines though and everything is clear.
sourceforge give you a lot of power and it takes a little work to get to use it.
step one: register for a user account, easy
step two: logon and apply for a project to be hosted
step three: spend hours reading circular documentation
step four: setup ssh keys
step five: copy web files to shell server at sourceforge
step six: upload anonymously to the upload server at SF
step seven: use the File release system to assign the anonymously uploaded file to a release.
step eight: upload screen shots.
step nine: sit back and relax
step ten: try and work out how to note release on http://www.freshmeat.net

Long time no flog, but that was because I have been getting ready to take my PADI diving course.
Great fun but I still have to do some work outside the pool in a big lake.
