No updates for a while, well I have had (and am still suffering from) a bit of flu (very messy).
Of course I have also been preparing for my http://www.lpi.org 102 exam which is part two to the 101 exam I took in Nov 2004.
I PASSED !! yep I took it today and passed with 88% (nine questions wrong), not quite as good as the 5 wrong on part one put this exam was harder.
Though when I say harder I mean more diverse, there is an awful lot to cover from printer daemons to apache and sendmail, not ignoring custom subnet masking and PPP revisited.
As before, some of the questions were stupidly easy with multiple choice allowing you to pin point the right answer even if you did not know it by ignoring the silly answers.
So what now ? well I am going to go through all the errors/omissions and mistakes I found in Ross Brunson's book and write up a detailed report then I will right a book review for http://slashdot.org

Its been a weird day so here I am sitting with my new DS listening to Holst The Planets !
How did get a DS? I traded in all (well nearly all) my old XBox and GameCube games, did not get much for them but 23 trades does total almost a DS.
Strangely enough the GameCube games had almost twice the resale value of the XBox games.
In fact now knowing what they were offering I doubt I would have lugged them all the way to the store.
But I had completed most and saw no replay value in any of them ...

I had a go at converting a cheap web cam to IR http://homepage.ntlworld.com/geoff.johnson2/IR/ but the UK has no sun to speak of so I now need to create an IR array !

FYI I did do 3 of the 17 pages for the new website (I am fed up calling it the secret website) and hope to do more today.
Doom3 has turned very nasty, I have been transported to hell and all my weapons lost, I have found some including the BFG 900 but the end of level boss is impregnable, I get a whispered hint but I can not make it out, something about destroy the seeker and he becomes vulnerable !?
I have been watching Disk 1 of the 5 DVD + 2 audio CD box set of the Anime Nadia, very impressive, basically a fun Lupin (for kids) take on the Jules Verne 2000 leagues under the sea. Produced in 1989 it is only just starting to show its age, I will review the series as soon as I have finished watching it all.

Of course what is more disturbing than the many dismembered corpses is the servers covered in blood !

did expect to be writing about how boring and easy Doom3 was but things took a sudden change for the harder, gone are the few zombies and the plentiful ammo now it bleeding walls, pitch dark rooms and much scarier monsters.
Had it still been easy I would have liked to point out it was still very unnerving, making you jump at every noise ...

Linux LPI 102 exam finally booked for Tuesday the 29th of March.
This is part two of the exam I passed at the end of last year.
Not much free time and any I do have I have been playing Doom3 !
which is very scary, makes you jump, I play it in the dark.
Got my second Xbox replacement power cable, this time its a UK plug, but I have not had time or enthusiasm to try it.
Comes with a circuit breaker like you get for running lawn mowers off.
Hopefully today I will add some content to the "secret website", about time I did.
